BILL PACKAGE HBs 4073 & 4421: Requires Search Warrants for DNR & DEGLE to enter private property.
Sponsors: Reps. Prestin (R) & Kunse (R)
Passages: 63-37 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Obtaining a warrant involves demonstrating probable cause to a neutral and detached magistrate or judge, who determines whether a search or seizure is justified. This process helps prevent abuse of power and ensures that conservation officers have a valid reason to conduct such actions.

HB 4861: Removes the requirement that those who are seeking a non-partisan office select a party affiliation when filing their affidavit to run for office.
Sponsor: Rep. Outman (R)
Passage: 100-0 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Quality candidates shouldn’t be removed from the ballot due to a paperwork error as a result of a poorly worded request for affiliation.
– – –
HB 4840: Would clarify existing law by ensuring that litigation among owners of privately-held corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs) is assigned to Michigan’s business courts – regardless of whether the corporation or LLC itself is a named party.
Sponsor: Rep. Lightner (R)
Passage: 99-1 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Proponents of the bill may argue that the bill will standardize business court proceedings across all counties in the state.
– – –
HB 4929: Allows for an individual to voluntarily relinquish a license or registration under the Public Health Code.
Sponsor: Rep. Pavlov (R)
Passage: 99-1 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: People who no longer operate in a licensed field should not be made to maintain and meet licensing requirements when they could simply give up their license as this adds unneeded requirements when they are not even practicing under the license.
– – –
HB 4930: Amends the Public Health Code to require a license applicant to include their full legal name on a license application.
Sponsor: Rep. Meuller (R)
Passage: 100-0 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: As health professions are heavily regulated and scrutinized, an individual should not be allowed to potentially use a nickname or other non-legal name when applying for licensure to better protect the public.

HR 195: A resolution to oppose the proposed Michigan Health Education Standards Framework and urge the Michigan Department of Education to redraft or the Michigan State Board of Education to reject these standards.
Sponsor: Rep. Johnsen (R)
Resolution Adopted: 56-42 along party lines
Why I voted YES: The proposed framework introduces highly controversial and divisive concepts regarding human sexuality and gender, topics that have no place in statewide education standards. The Michigan Department of Education should not be promoting ideological viewpoints on issues such as gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. These deeply personal matters belong in the home, where parents and guardians can address them according to their own family’s values, morals, and faith.
– – –
HR 196: A resolution to demand that the Michigan Secretary of State comply with the United States Department of Justice’s request for an unredacted copy of Michigan’s computerized statewide voter registration list, as required by section 303 of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 and section 8(i)(1) of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, to the full extent permitted by law.
Sponsor: Rep. Fox (R)
Resolution Adopted
Why I voted YES: In July 2025, to ascertain whether Michigan’s Department of State (MDOS) maintains accurate voter rolls, as Chair of the Michigan House Election Integrity Committee, I wrote a letter to MDOS requesting full access to the Qualified Voter File to which I was met with strong resistance from MDOS and refusal to cooperate. Michigan is in critical need of assistance from the federal government in curbing MDOS’s extreme abuse of power and appalling lack of accountability.

HB 4860: Would amend the Insurance Code to require health plans or nonprofit dental care organizations to have one method of payment or reimbursement to dentists that is fee free.
Sponsor: Rep. Harris (R)
Passage: 99-1 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Advocates may argue dentists should not have to pay a fee on behalf of an insurer or consumers to access reimbursement(s) for services already rendered.
– – –
HB 4726: Would extend the sunset capping county “maintenance of effort” reimbursement rates for county-owned nursing home facilities that serve Medicaid patients.
Sponsor: Rep. Bierlein (R)
Passage: 97-3 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Extending the sunset would benefit counties financially, allowing them to continue funding the county-owned nursing home at existing levels without raising revenues or cutting other services.
– – –
BILL PACKAGE HBs 5079-5080: Would make it a 20-year felony to take a firearm from a peace officer or corrections officer, by the use of force or violence.
Sponsor: Rep. Mueller (R)
Passages: 75-25 with Immediate Effect
Why I voted YES: Current law does not adequately punish criminals for trying to disarm police officers of their firearm, by force or violence. These types of incidents can lead to the deaths of police officers. An increased criminal sentence will more adequately penalize this inherently dangerous conduct.

HR 214: A resolution to urge the United States Senate to immediately pass a clean continuing resolution to reopen the federal government.
Sponsors: Reps. Hall (R), DeBoer (R ), DeSana (R), Fox (R), Greene (R), Jenkins-Arno (R), & Rigas (R)
Resolution Adopted: 54-46
Why I voted YES: The government shutdown, now dragging into its second month, isn’t just a headline. It’s a punch in the gut to every Michigan worker, every small business owner, and every military family wondering if their next paycheck will come.
