Rep. Schmaltz says everyone deserves to have safe, clean water

State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz, R-Jackson, today announced Jackson has been awarded a $2.7 million state grant to improve the city’s water system.

The $2,772,500 award from the state’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund will help the city replace approximately 6,369 linear feet of water main and associated lead service lines.

“I’m proud that our state is investing in the health and well-being of our community by improving our water system,” Schmaltz said. “This funding will ensure local families have access to reliable and safe water for years to come.”

The grant for Jackson is part of $267 million in MI Clean Water grants announced this week by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
