State Rep. Angela Rigas (R-Caledonia) today responded to Attorney General Dana Nessel’s reply to her request for documentation related to the Flint Water Crisis prosecutions, sent to Nessel’s office earlier this month. Rigas chairs the Subcommittee on Weaponization of State Government of the House Oversight Committee. Nessel stated in her response that she intends to fully cooperate with the subcommittee and produce all requested documents.
“This is a major win for transparency and a victory for the people of Michigan,” Rigas said. “House Oversight and the Subcommittee on Weaponization of State Government are finally pulling back the curtain on a critical issue that’s been years in the making. Many of our residents care deeply about the money spent on these prosecutions and want the details to come to light.”
In her response, Nessel stated that her office will need an additional eight weeks to fully comply with the request. Rigas was skeptical of the timelines but said she’s willing to grant Nessel an extension to ensure that all documents are successfully produced. Rigas and the subcommittee plan to release all relevant documents to the public after Nessel produces them.
